Lionel Confirms Vision Line C&O Allegheny Second Production Run for Winter 2026 Delivery
Lionel has confirmed a second production run of the Vision Line Chesapeake & Ohio Allegheny 2-6-6-6 articulated steam locomotive, with Winter 2026 delivery through authorized dealers. The original Allegheny release sold through allocated production within weeks of availability in 2024, and Lionel has responded to sustained collector demand with this second run. The Vision Line Allegheny features full LEGACY 3.0 electronics, twin flywheel motors, synchronized chuff and smoke output per engine set, RailSounds 5.0 audio with prototype-accurate C&O whistle and bell, and museum-grade die-cast construction with separately applied detail throughout. Pricing for the second run is set at $2,199 MSRP, matching original release pricing. Pre-orders open at Lionel-authorized dealers July 15, 2026, with delivery expected November through January. The Allegheny represents the most powerful steam locomotive ever built and is one of only a handful of Vision Line articulated releases Lionel has produced. Second production runs of Vision Line articulated steam are historically rare, making this an unusual opportunity for collectors who missed the original release.

Who We Are
Driven By Passion
We're not a corporation. We're hobbyists who grew up with Lionel sets under the Christmas tree, who drove six hours to the York show just to find that one elusive steam engine. We've got grease under our fingernails and miles on our odometers.
VibeTrains exists because the model train world deserves honest, knowledgeable coverage — not affiliate-driven listicles. We review what we buy, rank what we know, and write from the layout room floor.
American railroading is one of the great stories of this country — iron and steam cutting through the Rockies, the transcontinental railroad connecting a divided nation, the streamlined passenger trains that defined midcentury elegance, and the massive freight locomotives that still move a continent's worth of goods every single night. Model trains have always been the way ordinary people hold that history in their hands. A Lionel Hudson is not just a toy. It's a direct connection to the golden age of the New York Central, to the engineers and firemen who ran the real thing, to the children of 1948 who unwrapped that box on Christmas morning and felt the electricity of the rails for the very first time. That's what we're here for. That's what drives every review, every ranking, every word on this site.
